Fire-Lite ES-50X 50-point addressable fire alarm control panel

The Fire-Lite ES-50X is the 50-point addressable panel that replaces the MS-9050UD. The ES-200X is the 198-point panel that replaces the MS-9200UDLS. Both have one signaling line circuit, run LiteSpeed or CLIP, and use Fire-Lite's 365-series detectors and 300-series modules.

Fire-Lite's own datasheets call each one a direct replacement for the older panel. The compatibility details below come from the Fire-Lite documents listed under Sources.

ES-50X vs ES-200X vs ES-1000X: capacity and what each replaces

Panel Addressable capacity SLC loops Built-in NACs Replaces (per Fire-Lite)
ES-50X 50 devices, any mix of detectors and modules 1 2, Class A or Class B MS-9050UD
ES-200X 198 devices (99 detectors and 99 modules) 1 4, Class A or Class B MS-9200UDLS
ES-1000X 318 per loop (159 detectors and 159 modules), 954 maximum 1 installed, up to 3 with SLC-3LS expander cards 4, Class A or Class B MS-9600LS and MS-9600UDLS

The ES-50X and ES-200X are listed to UL 864 10th edition, hold 1,000 events of history, support up to 16 ANN-BUS annunciators and program through FS-Tools or a USB drive. On both, each NAC is rated 2.5 A special application, and total 24 VDC power shared by the NACs and the ANN-BUS is 2.7 A. Fire-Lite's November 2023 announcement says the ES-1000X replaces the legacy MS-9600(UD)LS panels.

What do the X, XP, XC and XI suffixes mean?

The suffix describes the communicator and what ships in the carton, not the point capacity.

  • X (ES-50X, ES-200X): pre-installed IPOTS-COM communicator, which reports over both IP and a phone line.
  • XP (ES-50XP, ES-200XP): pre-installed CLSS Pathway Pro communicator, dual-SIM AT&T and Verizon 5G LTE-M with an optional IP connection. A dress panel is included.
  • XC: the model for Canadian applications, with the IPOTS-COM and a dress panel.
  • XI: no communicator is listed in the carton; a dress panel is included.

On the plain X models the DP-ES-R dress panel is an optional part.

Which detectors and modules work on an ES-series panel?

The ES datasheets list these Fire-Lite addressable devices. For the full list, Fire-Lite points to its SLC Wiring Manual (51309) and Device Compatibility Document.

Type Models Protocol note
Photoelectric smoke SD365, SD365T (with thermal), SD365R (remote test, for DNR duct housings) White models are LiteSpeed only
Photoelectric smoke, ivory SD365-IV, SD365T-IV, SD365R-IV LiteSpeed and CLIP
Heat H365 (135°F), H365R (rate-of-rise), H365HT (190°F), and -IV versions White LiteSpeed only; -IV LiteSpeed and CLIP
Fire and CO SD365CO White is LiteSpeed only
Pull station BG-12LX
Monitor modules MMF-300, MMF-301 (mini), MDF-300 (dual), MMF-302 (two-wire smoke zone)
Output modules CRF-300 relay, CMF-300 control (needs external 24 VDC for the appliances)
Isolator I300, ISO-6

The panel must be programmed for LiteSpeed or for CLIP. Fire-Lite's compatibility chart states that the two protocols cannot be split on one panel. LiteSpeed is the default on the ES panels, and the SLC can run to 10,000 ft. in LiteSpeed mode on twisted, unshielded wire.

One more option exists on paper. System Sensor's SS-Series datasheet says its SS-PHOTO and SS-HEAT detectors support current LiteSpeed systems, and it refers to the compatibility chart and the SLC wiring manual for specific panels. The Fire-Lite chart we reviewed predates the SS-Series, so confirm against the current Device Compatibility Document before using SS-Series detectors on an ES panel.

Do legacy 355-series devices still work, and what replaces them?

Yes. The ES datasheets list the SD355, SD355T, SD355R, SD355CO, H355, H355R, H355HT and AD355 under legacy devices that the panels support. Fire-Lite describes the SD365 Series as the direct replacement for the SD355 Series.

Two cautions apply when replacing a detector on an older panel instead of an ES panel:

  • White 365 detectors are not for CLIP-only panels. Fire-Lite's chart shows the white SD365 and H365 on the ES-50X, ES-200X, MS-9200UDLS, MS-9600LS and MS-9600UDLS only. The MS-9050UD, MS-9200, MS-9200UD and MS-9600 are CLIP only, and the chart shows the ivory -IV models for those panels. So an SD355 on an MS-9050UD is replaced by an SD365-IV, not a white SD365. The white SD365CO is shown for the ES panels only.
  • Older 300-series devices force CLIP. The CP300 and CP350, SD300 and SD350, M300, M301, M302, C304 and BG-10LX are not compatible with LiteSpeed polling. If one of them is on the loop, the panel must poll in CLIP, which in turn rules out the white LiteSpeed-only detectors.

Is the MS-4 discontinued, and which conventional panel replaces it?

Yes. Fire-Lite's product update dated September 24, 2025 discontinued the MS-2-L8 and the MS-4 effective immediately because of component constraints, with a limited supply of the MS-4 remaining. The suggested replacements are the MS-5UD-3 (5-zone) and the MS-10UD-7 (10-zone). The same notice says Fire-Lite is working on a next generation of conventional panels.

Confirm every device against the panel's Device Compatibility Document, and install the system to NFPA 72 and the requirements of the local AHJ.

Where to find these panels and devices

The store stocks the ES panels and the Fire-Lite device lines in the Fire-Lite and control panels collections. In-stock orders placed by 3 PM ET ship the same business day. For a panel replacement with its device list, or a part not shown, request a quote.
