SD365-IV — ivory, low-profile intelligent plug-in photoelectric smoke detector for Fire•Lite addressable fire alarm control panels, operating in both CLIP and LiteSpeed protocol.
The SD365 Series is the direct replacement for the SD355 Series, with a sleek low-profile design and an enhanced optical sensing chamber engineered to sense smoke produced by a wide range of combustion sources in accordance with more stringent code standards. Point ID capability lets each detector’s address be set with rotary decimal address switches, so the panel reports the exact detector location during the early stages of a fire. Two LEDs on each sensor blink when the detector is polled and latch on in alarm. The head plugs into a detachable base, which simplifies installation and service and allows photoelectric, ionization and thermal sensors to be interchanged on the same base. A built-in functional test switch is activated by an external magnet, and the removable cover with insect-resistant screen allows simple field cleaning. Each detector’s sensitivity can be tested from the panel as required by NFPA 72 Chapter 14, and the results printed for record keeping.

Installation notes

Protocol matters: the ivory "-IV" version runs CLIP as well as LiteSpeed. The plain white SD365 is LiteSpeed only — the difference is decisive on an SLC that contains legacy devices forcing the panel into CLIP polling.

No end-of-line resistors: because of the inherent supervision provided by the SLC loop, EOL resistors are not required. Wiring T-taps or branches are permitted for Class B wiring only.

Box depth: mount the detector base (all base types) on an electrical backbox at least 1.5" (3.81 cm) deep. See DF-60059 for the chart of compatible junction boxes.

Bases are separate items: the detector plugs into a detachable base, and bases are listed as their own ordering items — B300-6-IV (6" flanged), B501-IV (4" flangeless), plus relay (B224RB-IV), isolator (B224BI-IV) and sounder (B200S-IV) bases.

Isolator limits: when using relay or sounder bases, consult the I300(A) installation sheet I56-3626 for device limitations between isolator modules and isolator bases.

Walk test display: the address blink readout during walk test (address 121 blinks 12-[pause]-1) works on LiteSpeed systems only.

Spacing: space detectors in compliance with NFPA 72; in low airflow applications with a smooth ceiling, space detectors 30 feet (9.1 m).
