SD365CO — plug-in addressable multi-criteria detector, white, combining four separate sensing elements to provide both fire and carbon monoxide detection while using only one address on the SLC.
The SD365CO senses multiple components of a fire at once: photoelectric sensors detect airborne particles associated with smoke, thermal sensors detect heat and rate-of-rise against a 135°F fixed temperature threshold, carbon monoxide sensors detect that by-product of fire, and infrared sensors discern light patterns in the environment as an additional data point for alarm determination. For CO, the electrochemical sensing cell creates a separate signal for life safety carbon monoxide detection. Sophisticated algorithms combine the sensor types to deliver heightened immunity to nuisance particulate alongside enhanced sensitivity to real fire, which supports use in applications with moderate to heavy nuisance conditions — theater smoke, for example — that might cause single-sensing detectors to false alarm. Automatic drift compensation is applied to both the smoke and CO sensors, and RealTest CO testing capability is built in. The detector meets UL 268 and UL 521 requirements for fire detection as well as UL 2075 for system-connected life safety carbon monoxide detection.

Installation notes

Narrower temperature range than a plain photo detector: the SD365CO is rated 32°F to 100°F (0°C to 38°C), not the 32°F to 122°F of the standard SD365. Check the ambient before substituting one for the other.

CO cell is a wear item: the CO cell is rated for 10 years and gives an end-of-life warning. Budget for replacement rather than treating the detector as install-and-forget.

Sounder bases give separate fire and CO tones: B200S series intelligent sounder bases are recommended, and can generate a Temporal 3 pattern for fire or a Temporal 4 pattern for CO alarm indication. They recognize the System Sensor synchronization protocol when connected to a power supply or FACP output capable of generating those sync pulses.

Protocol: this white model is a LiteSpeed device. The ivory SD365CO-IV operates in LiteSpeed and CLIP mode, which matters on an SLC forced into CLIP polling by legacy devices.
