Simplex 4098-9733 is a white, NEMA 1 rated TrueAlarm addressable heat sensor with rate-compensated fixed temperature sensing, selectable with or without rate-of-rise operation.
The sensor is self-restoring. Its thermistor measures local temperature, and the base transmits the value to the fire alarm control unit every four seconds over IDNet or MAPNET II. Set point and rate-of-rise are selected at the control unit, and the 4098-9733 can also be programmed as a utility device to watch for temperature extremes such as freeze warnings or HVAC faults. The sensor head is a separate SKU from its base.

Installation notes

Heat is not smoke detection. Johnson Controls notes that hazardous smoke and toxic gas can build up before a heat device alarms; where life safety is a factor, smoke detection is recommended.

Boxes: 4 in. octagonal or square box, 1-1/2 in. minimum depth, or single-gang box, 2 in. minimum depth. The 4098-9832 adapter plate is needed for some surface or semi-flush mounting.
