Simplex 4098-9792 — the standard white TrueAlarm sensor base, the plain addressable base for Simplex 4098 photoelectric and heat sensors with no relay or remote-indicator options.
TrueAlarm sensor bases hold the addressable electronics for the point. The base constantly monitors the detachable photoelectric or heat sensor plugged into it, digitizes the sensor output and transmits it to the fire alarm control unit every four seconds over IDNet or MAPNET II. The address is set on a DIP switch in the base, accessible from the front once the sensor head is removed, so the address stays with the programmed location when a sensor is swapped or substituted. The base carries an integral red LED that pulses to show communications and latches on steady for alarm or trouble, and it uses a locking anti-tamper design. The 4098-9792 is the no-options base: if you need a remote LED alarm indicator or a supervised or unsupervised relay, one of the other bases in the family is required.

Installation notes
-
No relay or indicator support: the 4098-9792 has no wired connections for a remote LED alarm indicator or relay. Use 4098-9789 for indicator/unsupervised relay connections, 4098-9791 for a supervised 2098-9737 relay, or 4098-9780 for a supervised 4098-9860 relay.
-
Adapter plate: the 4098-9832 is required for surface or semi-flush mounting to a 4 in. square electrical box and for surface mounting to a 4 in. octagonal box. It also covers the footprint of an existing 6-3/8 in. diameter legacy base for cosmetic retrofits.
-
Sensor sold separately: the base ships without a sensor head; order the 4098-9714, 4098-9733 or 4098-9734 to suit the location.
-
Sensor substitution: because all TrueAlarm sensors share this base, a heat sensor can be installed in place of a smoke sensor during dusty construction without reprogramming the panel. The panel annunciates an incorrect sensor type, but the heat sensor operates at a default sensitivity.
-
Address stays with the location: setting the address in the base rather than the head means replacing a dirty sensor does not require readdressing.
