Notifier FSP-951-IV — an ivory low-profile intelligent plug-in photoelectric smoke sensor for Notifier addressable signaling line circuits, supporting both FlashScan and CLIP protocols, addressed by rotary decimal switches. The sensor uses a detachable base, ordered separately.
The NOTIFIER FSP-951 Series intelligent plug-in smoke detectors are designed for both performance and aesthetics, and are direct replacements for the FSP-851 Series. A modern, sleek, contemporary design and an enhanced optical sensing chamber is engineered to sense smoke produced by a wide range of combustion sources in accordance with more stringent code standards. Detector sensitivity can be programmed in the control panel software, and sensitivity is continuously monitored and reported to the panel. Point ID capability allows each detector’s address to be set with rotary, decimal address switches, providing exact detector location for selective maintenance when chamber contamination reaches an unacceptable level. Each sensor uses one of the panel’s addresses on the Signaling Line Circuit, responds to regular polls from the control panel and reports its type and status; it blinks its LEDs when polled and turns them on when commanded by the panel. The removable cover and insect-resistant screen allow simple field cleaning, and a built-in functional test switch is activated by an external magnet. The ivory finish provides an alternative to standard white devices where matching existing devices or building finishes matters.

Installation notes

Base sold separately: mount the detector base (all base types) on an electrical backbox at least 1.5″ (3.81 cm) deep. Use the ivory bases — B300-6-IV or B501-IV — to match the sensor.

No end-of-line resistors: because of the inherent supervision provided by the SLC loop, end-of-line resistors are not required. Wiring “T-taps” or branches are permitted for Class B wiring only.

Duct applications: the listed velocity range of 0–4000 ft/min makes the sensor suitable for installation in ducts, but the remote-test-capable FSP-951R/FSP-951R-IV is the variant specified for use with DNR/DNRW duct detector housings.

Relay and sounder bases: when using relay or sounder bases, consult the ISO-X installation sheet I56-1380 for device limitations between isolator modules and isolator bases.

Protocol: the ivory FSP-951-IV runs in both CLIP and FlashScan; the white FSP-951 is FlashScan only. Confirm the loop protocol before substituting one for the other.
