NOTIFIER FSP-951R-IV — an ivory, low-profile intelligent photoelectric smoke sensor that is remote test capable, for use with DNR/DNRW duct detector housings.
The FSP-951R-IV is a plug-in smoke sensor combining a photoelectric sensing chamber with addressable-analog communications. The "-IV" suffix denotes a CLIP and FlashScan® device in an ivory housing, so it will operate on either protocol; the plain white FSP-951R is FlashScan only. Detector sensitivity can be programmed in the control panel software, and sensitivity is continuously monitored and reported to the panel.
Remote test capability is the reason this model exists: installed inside a duct housing where a technician cannot easily reach it, the detector can be commanded to stimulate its own electronics and report an alarm from the panel. Point ID capability allows the address to be set with rotary decimal switches. The detector plugs into a detachable base, ordered separately, and the DNR/DNRW duct housing is likewise a separate order.

Installation notes
-
This is the duct-housing variant: the "R" model is intended for use with DNR/DNRW duct detector housings. Its published temperature range, -4°F to 158°F, is the rating when installed in that housing — a much wider range than the 32°F to 122°F of an open-area FSP-951.
-
Housing and base are separate orders: the detector head ships alone. Order the DNR (standard) or DNRW (NEMA-4 watertight) housing and the detachable base separately.
-
Protocol: the -IV suffix means the detector works on both CLIP and FlashScan loops. If the site is FlashScan-only and ivory is not required, the plain FSP-951R is the equivalent white part.
-
Backbox depth: mount detector bases on an electrical backbox at least 1.5" (3.81 cm) deep; see DN-60054 for the compatible junction box chart.
-
Wiring: no end-of-line resistor is required because the SLC is inherently supervised. T-taps and branches are permitted for Class B wiring only.
-
Isolator limits: when using relay or sounder bases, consult ISO-X(A) installation sheet I56-1380 for device limitations between isolator modules and isolator bases.
