NOTIFIER FSP-951R — white, low-profile intelligent plug-in photoelectric smoke sensor, remote test capable, for use with DNR/DNRW duct detector housings, FlashScan only.
The FSP-951R is the remote-test variant of the FSP-951 Series and is intended to be installed inside a DNR Series duct detector housing rather than on an open ceiling. Sensitivity is programmed in the control panel software, continuously monitored and reported back to the panel, and the detector is addressed by rotary decimal switches for exact point identification. An enhanced optical sensing chamber responds to a wide range of combustion sources, and the series is designed to meet UL 268 7th Edition. The detector plugs into a separate base, which is ordered separately and also carries the field wiring; the same base accepts photoelectric, ionization and thermal sensors, so sensor technology can be changed without rewiring.

Installation notes

Base sold separately: the detector plugs into a detachable base that carries the SEMS-screw field wiring. Mount the base on an electrical backbox at least 1.5 in. (3.81 cm) deep; see DN-60054 for the chart of compatible junction boxes.

Duct housing application: the -4°F to 158°F (-20°C to 70°C) operating range published for the FSP-951R Series applies to the detector installed in a DNR/DNRA/DNRW housing. Open-area FSP-951 detectors are rated 32°F to 122°F (0°C to 50°C).

FlashScan only: the plain FSP-951R is a FlashScan device. In the NOTIFIER ordering table the “-IV” suffix designates the CLIP-and-FlashScan version, so specify FSP-951R-IV if the loop must run CLIP.

No end-of-line resistor: because of the supervision inherent in the SLC loop, end-of-line resistors are not required. Wiring “T-taps” or branches are permitted for Class B wiring only.

Isolator and sounder bases: when using relay or sounder bases, consult the ISO-X(A) installation sheet I56-1380 for device limitations between isolator modules and isolator bases.

Testing: supports remote test from the panel, walk test with address display on FlashScan systems, and a built-in functional test switch activated by an external magnet (test magnets M02-04-00 or M02-09-00).
