NOTIFIER FSP-951 — a low-profile intelligent plug-in addressable photoelectric smoke detector for NOTIFIER signaling line circuits, and the direct replacement for the FSP-851 Series.
The FSP-951 Series uses a modern, sleek, contemporary design with an enhanced optical sensing chamber engineered to sense smoke produced by a wide range of combustion sources in accordance with more stringent code standards. Detector sensitivity can be programmed in the control panel software; sensitivity is continuously monitored and reported to the panel. Point ID capability allows each detector’s address to be set with rotary, decimal address switches, providing exact detector location for selective maintenance when chamber contamination reaches an unacceptable level.
The detector is a plug-in head that connects to the SLC through a detachable base — the base is a separate order. Mount the base on an electrical backbox at least 1.5" (3.81 cm) deep. Because of the inherent supervision provided by the SLC loop, end-of-line resistors are not required, and T-taps or branches are permitted for Class B wiring only.

Installation notes

Base ordered separately: the detector uses a detachable base for wiring. Compatible bases include B300-6 (6" flanged), B501 (4" flangeless), B224RB relay, B224BI isolator, and the B200S sounder family. For base details see DN-60981.

Backbox depth: mount the base on an electrical backbox at least 1.5" (3.81 cm) deep; see DN-60054 for the compatible junction box chart.

Wiring: no end-of-line resistor is required because the SLC is inherently supervised. T-taps and branches are permitted for Class B wiring only.

Isolator limits: when using relay or sounder bases, consult ISO-X(A) installation sheet I56-1380 for device limitations between isolator modules and isolator bases.

Protocol matters when ordering: plain FSP-951 is FlashScan only. The "-IV" suffix denotes a CLIP and FlashScan device in ivory — check which protocol your panel loop is running before substituting.

Spacing: NOTIFIER recommends spacing per NFPA 72; in low airflow applications with a smooth ceiling, space detectors 30 feet (9.1 m).

Walk test: address display blinks the address on FlashScan systems only (address 121 blinks as 12-[pause]-1). A built-in functional test switch is activated by an external magnet.
