BG-12 — non-coded, dual-action conventional manual fire alarm pull station with an SPST normally-open switch, screw terminal connections and a hex lock.
The BG-12 Series provides Fire•Lite fire alarm control panels, as well as other manufacturers’ controls, with a manual alarm initiating input signal. Dual action means the handle must be pushed in and then pulled down, a design that is easily operated yet resists false alarms when the station is bumped, shaken or jarred. Once latched in the down position the word ACTIVATED appears at the top in bright yellow and a portion of the handle protrudes at the bottom as a visible flag. The textured finger-hold area carries Braille text, and white arrows show the basic operating direction for non-English-speaking persons. Cover, backplate and operation handle are all molded of durable polycarbonate, with white lettering and trim in a red that matches System Sensor’s SpectrAlert Advance horn/strobe series. The station can be opened for inspection and maintenance without initiating an alarm, and the words NORMAL and ACTIVATED are molded into the plastic next to the alarm switch inside. The BG-12 Series is designed to replace the Fire•Lite legacy BG-10 Series.

Installation notes
-
Conventional, not addressable: the BG-12 supplies a single dry contact closure to an initiating device circuit. It has no addressable interface, no address switches and no LED — the panel reports the zone, not the individual station. For point identification use the BG-12LX instead.
-
Contact rating is small: the gold-plated contacts are rated 0.25 A @ 30 VAC or VDC. This is an initiating contact for an IDC, not a load-switching contact.
-
Hex lock on this model: the BG-12 ships with the hex lock (a 9/64" hex, P/N 17007, quarter-turn). If your site standard is keyed stations, order the BG-12L instead; keys are P/N 17003, set of two.
-
Reset procedure: insert the key or hex, twist a quarter-turn, then open the front cover, which returns the spring-loaded handle. The alarm switch is then reset by hand or automatically by closing the front cover.
-
Single-gang mounting: the backplate is large enough to overlap a single-gang backbox cutout by 1/2" (1.27 cm). The optional BG12TR trim ring covers larger semi-flush openings.
-
Outdoor use: the standard BG-12 is not listed for outdoor use. The BG-12LOB carries an outdoor listing and includes an outdoor-listed backbox and sealing gasket.
