Linear heat detection uses a continuous sensing cable instead of spot detectors, giving detection anywhere along its length. It is the answer where spot devices cannot practically cover the hazard: cable trays and tunnels, conveyor belts, parking structures, warehouse racking, floating roof tanks and escalator machinery.
Digital cable triggers at a fixed temperature anywhere along the run and is simple to interface. Analogue and fibre systems can also report the location of the alarm, which matters on long runs where finding the hot spot is the problem.
Specify the alarm temperature above the maximum normal ambient along the whole route — not just at the coolest point — and account for the end-of-line device and the interface module the panel needs.
