VSP-962 — single VESDA-E filter cartridge for VESDA-E VEU, VEP and VES aspirating smoke detectors.
Air drawn from the sampling pipe network passes an airflow sensor and then the replaceable filter before a sample reaches the smoke detection chamber; a further filtered feed supplies the clean air barrier that protects the chamber optics from contamination. That multi-stage filtration is the mechanism behind a VESDA-E detector holding its calibrated sensitivity over its lifetime, which is why the cartridge is treated as a scheduled consumable rather than a repair part. The detector keeps track of it: a smart on-board filter retains the dust count and remaining filter life, and filter life used appears on the detector display, so the change is planned rather than discovered during a callback.

Installation notes
-
Power stays on: the product guide states it is not necessary to switch off the 24 VDC supply to change the filter. The detector will stop the aspirator when it senses the filter has been removed and will signal a fault — that fault is expected, and clears once the new cartridge is seated.
-
Removal: open the front door, check the area around the filter is free of lint and dust, press the release mechanism, tilt the cartridge toward the left-hand side of the detector on the hinge pins at its base, then lift it out of the case.
-
Refitting: make sure the replacement is free of lint and dust, seat the hinge pins in their recess, tilt the cartridge to the right, and press firmly until it makes a distinct click and no further movement is possible. If it has not clicked, it is not sealed.
-
Wrong-part risk: VSP-962 is the VESDA-E cartridge only. Legacy VESDA VLC, VLF, VLP and VLS detectors take VSP-005, and the VESDA-E VEA takes VSP-972. The three are not interchangeable despite the shared VSP prefix.
-
Single use: a VESDA-E filter cartridge cannot be cleaned and must be replaced with a new one.
