The Simplex 4098-9687 is a duct detector housing for HVAC ducts that must be monitored without a fire alarm control panel. It comes with a factory-installed 4098-9601 TrueAlarm photoelectric smoke detector. Its own relay can shut down fans or trigger other equipment when smoke is detected in the duct.

Compatibility
Requires the 4098-9842 control station, ordered separately. It provides a green power LED, a red alarm LED, a tone-alert with silence switch and a keyed test/reset switch. A sampling tube sized to the duct width (4098-9854 through 4098-9858) is also ordered separately. Duct detection supplements area smoke detection but does not replace it.
