Simplex 4098-5252 — MX 850 Series addressable photoelectric smoke sensor with a built-in short-circuit isolator.
This is an MX Technology device, not an IDNet one. The sensor returns analog values that the panel evaluates with the MX Fastlogic algorithm rather than against a fixed threshold, and isolation is built into the sensor itself, removing the need for separate isolator devices along the loop.
- For Simplex 4100ES and 4010ES panels and 2050 and 2250 Foundation Series units fitted with an MX loop module
- One MX loop address per sensor base, set with the 850 EMT tool over infrared, not by coded switches
- 350 µA supervisory and 4.0 mA maximum in alarm, drawn from the MX loop
- -13 to 158 °F continuous and 194 °F short term, indoor only; humidity to 93% RH
- 109 × 43 mm (4-1/4" × 1-11/16"); base terminals take 20 to 14 AWG
- Listed to UL 268; install instructions 579-1088
The sensor is a head and the base is ordered separately: 4098-5260 is the 4" continuity base that lets the sensor isolate short circuits, 4098-5261 the plain base where it is not required. In the family 4098-5251 adds heat, 4098-5253 is heat only, 4098-5254 adds CO. It is not the IDNet sensor 4098-9714.
