The 4090-9001 sits inside a single-gang box and flashes a communications LED that disappears the moment a blank plate goes over it. This cover finishes a semi-flush mounted box and carries a light pipe, so a technician can confirm the module is talking to the loop without unscrewing anything. The surface-mount equivalent is the 4090-9807, and the two are routinely listed under each other's numbers.
