Siemens XDLC (S54430-B8-A1) — Class X device loop card that connects Siemens addressable intelligent X-series and H-series devices to a Desigo Fire Safety Modular panel, supporting up to 252 addressable points on one network address.
The XDLC initializes, operates and maintains every device on up to four Class A or eight Class B addressable circuits, communicating alarm, trouble and supervisory data to the panel while supervising the device loop itself. Those 252 points can be any combination of detectors, devices, relay and audible bases, remote lamps and duct-detector housings. The card is polarity insensitive in non-isolation mode via SureWire technology, which removes most of the commissioning time normally lost to tracing crossed field wiring, and it supports T-tapping. An on-board microprocessor controls the isolators so that a short on one circuit does not take down the others, and that microprocessor keeps running even if the panel CPU fails — the degrade-mode behaviour that makes Class X survivability meaningful. Sixteen diagnostic LEDs make circuit faults readable at the card, and ground-fault detection and zone-isolation circuitry are built in. The card plugs into one slot of a CC-2 or CC-5 card cage and is configured with the Zeus-D tool.

Installation notes
-
Size the loop by current, not just by count: the device loop is limited to 500 mA at 30 VDC, and standby draw is 100 mA plus 1.4 mA per device. A loop can reach the 252-point limit and still need checking against those figures.
-
Polarity insensitivity is conditional: SureWire polarity insensitivity applies in non-isolation mode. Devices configured as isolators are polarity sensitive, so isolator wiring still has to be right.
-
Check panel compatibility before ordering: the data sheet directs installers to installation manual P/N A6V101040156 to confirm XDLC compatibility with the specific Siemens FACP intended for the application.
-
Card cage slot required: the XDLC occupies one slot in a CC-2 or CC-5 card cage; it is not a standalone module.
-
Mixed device generations are supported: both the newer X-series and legacy H-series intelligent addressable devices can share the loop, which is what makes staged panel replacements possible without swapping every head.
-
Isolation is on the card: a short on one circuit is isolated by the card's own microprocessor so the remaining circuits keep operating, and that processor continues to run through a CPU failure.
