Gentex S1209 Photoelectric Smoke Alarm, 120 VAC with 9V Battery Backup, 917-0059-002

Gentex S1209 — catalogue number 917-0059-002, a 120 VAC photoelectric smoke alarm with 9V battery back up, single or multiple station.

This is a self contained dwelling unit alarm listed to ANSI/UL 217, not a system detector on an addressable loop. It runs from building power, sounds its own horn, and tandem interconnects to other Gentex capable alarms so any unit in alarm sounds the whole group.

• ANSI/UL 217 listed; CSFM 7257-0569:0501
• 120 VAC 60 Hz, 0.045 A; 9V alkaline MN 1604 secondary power
• Temporal 3 piezo horn, 3100 Hz nominal, 85 dBA or better at 10 ft
• Nominal sensitivity 2.5% obscuration; chamber insect screened
• Up to 12 alarms interconnected, 125 ft apart, 1125 ft first to last
• 40 °F to 100 °F; 6.25 in. overall diameter, 1.80 in. deep

The relay version is the S1209F (917-0057-002), adding one Form A and one Form C contact at 0.6 A. No Gentex document read states that this part is replaced by the S (917-0070-002): the S is a multi criteria alarm in the newer S/C/SC/H series, 5.5 in. across and listed to UL 217 9th Edition, and Gentex lists the two as tandem compatible, not as a replacement pair.
