Edwards BPS10A — a 10-amp remote booster power supply: a UL 864 10th Edition listed, 24 VDC filtered, regulated and supervised unit that adds notification appliance circuits or auxiliary power where the panel has run out of either.
The BPS provides four Class B notification appliance circuits, convertible to two Class A, which can be activated in one or two groups from the unit’s dual-input circuits. Any of the four NACs can instead be configured as an auxiliary output, and a separate 200 mA dedicated auxiliary output is provided. The supply contains the circuitry to monitor and charge internal or external batteries, and its steel enclosure has room for up to two 10 ampere-hour batteries. Beyond fire, the unit is listed for holdup, local burglar, police-station-connected burglar, proprietary burglar and central station alarm applications, and supports Mass Notification/Emergency Communication as well as life safety use.
Supplied in a keyed lockable steel cabinet with a removable door. Batteries, tamper switch and seismic kit are separate catalog numbers.

Installation notes

Per-circuit and total limits are different numbers: each output circuit is capped at 3 amperes, but total current draw across all NACs cannot exceed the unit’s 10 A rating. Four circuits fully loaded at 3 A would exceed it.

FM listing caps the battery smaller than the catalog does: the data sheet notes that for FM listing, maximum battery size is 24 Ah (12V24A or equivalent) — not the 65 Ah allowed for the general fire application.

Anything above 10 Ah needs a separate cabinet: only two 10 Ah batteries fit inside the BPS enclosure. The 12V17A, 12V24A, 12V40A, 12V50A and 12V65A batteries all require a separate battery cabinet (BC-1 or BC-2).

Batteries are ordered in pairs and sold separately: every battery in the accessory list is marked “two required.”

Seismic: optional earthquake hardening carries OSHPD seismic pre-approval for component Importance Factor 1.5 using the BPSEQ kit. For earthquake anchorage, including mounting weights and center of gravity, refer to Seismic Application Guide 3101676; approval of panel anchorage to the site structure may require local AHJ, structural or civil engineer review.

Synchronization and coded output: the BPS provides Genesis and Enhanced Integrity notification appliance synchronization and supports coded output operation. Units can be cascaded or controlled independently.

Overcurrent protection is self-restoring, and on-board diagnostic LEDs identify wiring or internal faults.

Two minor catalog inconsistencies in this data sheet: the seismic kit is described as being for the “BPS6A or BPS10” rather than the BPS10A, and two battery entries name a capacity that does not match their catalog number (12V6A5 described as 7.2 Amp Hour, 12V17A described as 18-Amp Hour). Confirm exact part numbers when ordering accessories.
