VESDA VSP-031 — VLI Secondary Foam Filter, a field-replaceable spare for the VESDA Laser Industrial aspirating smoke detector.
The VLI runs a staged filtration train, and this is the last stage before the sample reaches the chamber. Air first passes the monitored Intelligent Filter (VSP-030), which splits the flow and tracks its own loading. A portion of the recombined sample is then drawn through the sub-sampling probe, an inertial separator, and this secondary foam filter, so larger dust particles are exhausted rather than reaching the optics. That is what keeps an industrial VLI from nuisance-alarming on coarse dust.

Do not substitute this for VSP-030. The Intelligent Filter is the monitored primary element, and the clean-air barrier over the optics is a third filter inside the chamber assembly, not this one.
