SK-FIRE-CO-W — a plug-in, addressable multi-criteria detector that provides both fire and carbon monoxide detection while using only one address on the SLC loop.
The detector combines four separate sensing elements to sense multiple components of a fire: smoke, CO, light/flame and heat. Photoelectric sensors detect airborne particles associated with smoke, thermal sensors detect heat and rate-of-rise (135°F fixed temperature threshold), and infrared sensors discern light patterns in the environment as an additional data point for alarm determination. For CO, a separate electrochemical sensing cell creates its own signal for life-safety carbon monoxide detection. Sophisticated algorithms combine all four sensor types to deliver heightened immunity to nuisance particulate — such as theatrical smoke — while retaining enhanced sensitivity to real fire, which supports use in applications where moderate to heavy nuisance conditions would cause single-sensing detectors to false alarm. The detector ships as a head only; a mounting base is ordered separately.

Installation notes

One address, two alarm types: the detector consumes only one SLC address but reports fire and CO as separate signals, so the panel can distinguish a fire alarm from a CO alarm on the same point.

Sounder base for distinct tones: B200S series intelligent sounder bases are recommended for use with this detector. They generate either a Temp 3 pattern for fire or a Temp 4 pattern for CO alarm indication — without a sounder base you lose that audible distinction at the device.

CO cell has a finite life: the CO cell is rated for 10 years and provides an end-of-life warning. Plan replacement of the detector on that cycle rather than treating it as an indefinite-life smoke detector.

Dimensions are base-dependent: the 2.7" height and 6.875" diameter published by Honeywell are measured with the detector installed in a B200S series sounder base. A plain 4" or 6" base yields a different profile.

Drift compensation: automatic drift compensation is applied to both the smoke and the CO sensors; RealTest® CO testing capability is supported.

Environmental limits: the 32°F to 100°F operating range rules out unconditioned attics, freezers and many mechanical spaces — confirm the ambient before specifying.
