Siemens XTRI-R (S54370-B1-A1) — addressable single-input intelligent interface module with an on-board Form C relay, used to bring a dry-contact device onto the SLC and to control or shunt external equipment from the same address.
The XTRI-series interface modules connect direct shorting devices to the fire alarm control panel's signalling line circuit, each taking one address on the loop. The XTRI-R monitors a normally open or normally closed dry contact and adds an addressable Form C relay; relay and input contact share the address but can be controlled as separate functions from a compatible Siemens FACP, which is what makes this the module to use where external equipment has to be shunted or driven. Every XTRI-series module carries built-in ISOtechnology — a configurable dual isolator that meets NFPA 72 Class X (Style 7) wiring requirements, supports up to 252 isolators per loop, and reports whether a short lies in front of or behind the device so the panel can locate the fault instead of just reporting it. Modules can be configured in isolator (polarity sensitive) or non-isolator (polarity insensitive) mode, and compatible panels will flag a module configured as an isolator but wired polarity-insensitive.

Installation notes

Isolator mode changes the wiring rules: configured as an isolator the module is polarity sensitive; configured as a non-isolator it is polarity insensitive. Wiring a module polarity-insensitively while it is configured as an isolator is a real and common mistake, and compatible panels will report it.

Class X survivability: the built-in dual isolators are what let the loop meet NFPA 72 Class X (Style 7). Observe the limit of 30 devices between isolators when mixing isolated and non-isolated devices.

Mixed device generations: the devices sitting between isolators may be either H-series or the newer X-series detection devices.

Address before installing: the DPU (500-033260) device programmer sets and verifies the address and tests module functionality through the programming port.

Relay is for external equipment, typically control or shunting — it is not a notification appliance circuit. Respect the 4A resistive rating at 125 VAC / 30 VDC.
