NOTIFIER FST-951 — white, low-profile intelligent 135°F (57°C) fixed-temperature thermal sensor, FlashScan only.
The FST-951 Series intelligent thermal detectors are designed for both performance and aesthetics and are direct replacements for the FST-851 Series, pairing a modern low-profile design with advanced thermal technologies. State-of-the-art thermistor technology gives fast response, and the point ID address is set with rotary decimal switches so the panel reports the specific detector location. Two visual alarm indicators give a 360° field viewing angle, blinking when the unit is polled and turning steady red in alarm. Thermal detectors are used for the protection of property, which makes them the right choice where smoke detection would be prone to nuisance alarms. The detector plugs into a detachable base — the B300-6(A) flanged base is included with this model — and the same base range accepts photoelectric, ionization and thermal sensors interchangeably.

Installation notes
-
Base is included on this model: the data sheet lists mounting as the B300-6(A) flanged base, included. If a different base is required — flangeless, relay, isolator or sounder — see DN-60981 for the full range.
-
Fixed temperature only: the plain FST-951 is the 135°F (57°C) fixed-temperature sensor. Rate-of-rise at 15°F (8.3°C) per minute is the FST-951R, and 190°F (88°C) is the FST-951H. The three are separate ordering codes and are not field-convertible.
-
FlashScan only: the plain FST-951 is a FlashScan device. The “-IV” suffix designates the ivory FlashScan-and-CLIP version, so specify FST-951-IV where CLIP operation is required.
-
Different generation from the FST-851: the FST-951 Series replaces the FST-851 Series and uses the B300-6/B501 base range rather than the older B210LP/B501(A) bases. Check which base is already in the ceiling before ordering a replacement head.
-
Backbox depth: mount the detector base on an electrical backbox at least 1.5 in. (3.81 cm) deep; see DN-60054 for the chart of compatible junction boxes.
-
No end-of-line resistor: because of the supervision inherent in the SLC loop, end-of-line resistors are not required. Wiring “T-taps” or branches are permitted for Style 4 (Class B) wiring only.
-
Isolator and sounder bases: consult the ISO-X(A) installation sheet I56-1380 for device limitations between isolator modules and isolator bases.
