B300-6 — System Sensor Select Series 6" flanged plug-in mounting base, white, for intelligent (addressable) detectors.
The B300-6 is the standard 6-inch base of the Select Series range. It is a plug-in detector base intended for use in intelligent systems, with screw terminals provided for power (+ and −) and remote annunciator connections; communication takes place over the same power lines, so no separate data pair is landed at the base. Where the 4-inch B501 offers a compact footprint, the 6-inch B300-6 provides compatibility with a wider range of junction boxes and its flange covers a larger opening — useful on retrofit work. A mechanical locking feature restricts removal of the attached sensor head, and a separately activated tamper-resist feature is built into the base. The detector head is not included.

Installation notes
-
Wire size is 12 to 18 AWG, not finer: System Sensor recommends the wire be no smaller than 18 AWG (0.823 mm²), with sizes up to 12 AWG (3.31 mm²) usable. Do not plan on 22 or 24 AWG conductors at this base.
-
It will not fit a double-gang box. Per the Select Series junction box selection guide the B300-6 is suitable for single gang, 3.5" octagonal, 4" octagonal, 4" square, and 4" square with a 3.0" mud ring — but not double gang, and not the 50, 60, 70 or 75 mm metric boxes. The sounder, relay and isolator bases do accept double gang, so do not assume the same box will suit.
-
Box depth depends on base and wire size; refer to the National Electrical Code or applicable local codes.
-
Termination method: strip about 3/8 inch (10 mm) of insulation using the strip gauge moulded into the base, slide the wire under the clamping plate and tighten the screw. Do not loop the wire under the clamping plate.
-
The tamper-resist feature is a one-way change: it is activated by breaking a tab on the base with needle-nose pliers, after which the detector cannot be removed without a small screwdriver. Do not activate it if a removal tool will be used. It can be defeated by breaking off the plastic lever, but that prevents the feature ever being used again.
-
Check zone wiring before installing detectors: verify the wiring of all bases in the system first, and colour-code conductors to reduce the likelihood of wiring errors.
-
Head compatibility: confirm the intended detector against the Base/Sensor Cross Reference Chart — that chart also determines the assembled unit’s operating temperature rating, which the base itself does not define.
