NOTIFIER FCM-1 — an intelligent addressable control module that gives NOTIFIER intelligent fire alarm control panels a supervised circuit for notification appliances (horns, strobes, speakers, etc.).
Addressability allows the FCM-1(A) to be activated either manually or through panel programming on a select zone or area-of-coverage basis. The module is configured for a single Class B (Style Y) or Class A (Style Z) notification appliance circuit and is used to switch 24 VDC audible/visual power or high-level audio for speakers up to 70.7 Vrms. Internal circuitry and the relay are powered directly from the two-wire SLC loop; the notification appliances themselves are fed from a separate external supply, which is always relay-isolated from the communication loop so a trouble on the external supply cannot interfere with the rest of the system. On command from the panel the module disconnects supervision and connects the external supply across the load in the proper polarity — that disconnection is what gives the panel positive confirmation the control relay actually turned on. Two rotary switches set the address by direct dial, and a built-in, non-settable type code identifies the module to the panel.

Installation notes
-
CB500 barrier: the control module barrier is required by UL for separating power-limited and non-power-limited wiring when they share the same junction box as the FCM-1(A).
-
Class A speakers need a capacitor: the A2143-20 capacitor is required for Class A (Style Z) operation of speakers.
-
ULC applies to the A version only: the ULC S3705 listing covers the FCM-1A; the plain FCM-1 carries the UL S635 listing.
-
Releasing service: refer to the SLC Manual (PN 51253) for details on releasing applications with the FCM-1(A). New FlashScan releasing applications use the FCM-1-REL — see datasheet DN-60390.
-
External power required: the module itself is loop-powered, but the notification appliances need their own regulated 24 VDC supply (or audio for speakers) landed on T10/T11. Budget the 4 VDC maximum NAC line loss when sizing circuit conductors.
