Siemens HFP-11 (500-033290) — plug-in, two-wire addressable multi-criteria fire detector that combines a dust-resistant photoelectric smoke chamber with a solid-state thermal sensor, for use with FireFinder XLS and FS-250 fire alarm control panels.
The HFP-11 is engineered with the most sophisticated detector intelligence available, allowing it to distinguish non-threatening phenomena from actual fire hazards while optimizing detection for the area in which it is installed. Smoke and thermal data are gathered and analyzed in the detector's on-board FirePrint neural network, which compares what it sees against the characteristics of real fires and against deceptive phenomena that cause ordinary detectors to false alarm. The control panel programs each head to one of eleven application profiles — office/retail, lobby, computer room, dormitory, healthcare, parking garage, utility/transformer room, hostile environment, precious storage, air duct, and warehouse/light manufacturing — and the detector reverts to the office setting if no profile is selected. Sensitivity, calibration and identification are dynamically supervised at the FACP, and the detector runs complete self-diagnostics every four seconds. Each detector ships with a protective dust cover; the mounting base is ordered separately.

Installation notes

Base sold separately: the head plugs into a DB-11 (500-094151) or the smaller DB-11E (500-094151E). In Canada order the ULC-Listed DB-11C (500-095687).

T-tapping: permitted only on Style 4 (Class B) wiring. The detector itself is polarity insensitive, so existing two-wire runs can often be reused on retrofits.

Address before you install: the Model DPU (500-033260) device programmer sets and verifies the address and runs diagnostics on the head before it goes on the ceiling — there are no dials or switches to set.

High air movement: the standard open-area profiles cover 0–1200 ft/min. Above that — in plenums, inside a duct, or in a duct housing with sampling tubes — the ASD duct application must be selected, which is rated to 4000 ft/min.

Do not mount near supply or return outlets, and treat exposed joists or beamed ceilings as a limit on the 30-foot spacing figure.

Field cleanable: the photo chamber unsnaps for cleaning, and the DMK-11 maintenance kit (500-695338) supplies a replacement labyrinth and bug screen.
