Siemens FP-11 (500-095112) — plug-in, two-wire addressable FirePrint multi-criteria detector with photoelectric and thermal inputs, for use with FireFinder XLS and MXL fire alarm control panels.
The FP-11 uses microprocessor circuitry with error checking, detector self-diagnostics and supervision programs to distinguish non-threatening deceptive phenomena — cigarette smoke, for instance — from actual fire hazards, while optimizing detection for the area it is intended to protect. System logic can be activated from any of three inputs: smoke, heat, or the detector's neural network. The panel programs each head to one of eleven hazard profiles — office/retail, lobby, computer room, dormitory, healthcare facility, parking garage, utility/transformer room, hostile environment, precious storage, air duct, and warehouse/light manufacturing — after which the software handles sensitivity with no alarm-verification delay. Each detector consists of a dust-resistant, field-cleanable photo chamber, a solid-state non-mechanical thermal sensor, and ASIC/surface-mount electronics in a low-profile housing, and ships with a protective dust cover. Programming and testing is done electronically with the Model DPU or the FPI-32 upgrade kit.

Installation notes

Base is ordered separately: the FP-11 uses the low-profile DB-11 surface base, or the smaller DB-11E. On a retrofit over an existing DB-3S base, the DB-ADPT adapter (500-094187) is the part that saves cutting in a new box.

T-tapping: permitted only on Style 4 (Class B) wiring.

Address before installing: the DPU or FPI-32 upgrade kit sets and verifies the address and runs a diagnostic test on the head, replacing dials and switches.

Not the same detector as the HFP-11: the FP-11 is the FireFinder XLS / MXL FirePrint head, while the HFP-11 is the FireFinder XLS / FS-250 head. Check the panel before ordering a replacement.

Locking kit: the DB-11 base accepts the LK-11 locking kit (50 detector locks and an installation tool) where unauthorized head removal is a concern.

Field cleanable: the photo chamber unsnaps; the DMK-11 kit (500-695338) supplies a replacement labyrinth and bug screen.
