Edwards SIGA-OSCD — a Signature Optica Series intelligent multisensor detector that combines advanced optical smoke sensing with life-safety carbon monoxide detection in one addressable head.
The SIGA-OSCD uses dual optical wavelengths combined with multiple detection angles to differentiate particles that are not representative of actual smoke, feeding particle data through digital filters and ratio tests that strip out signal patterns typical of nuisance sources such as general cooking particulates. Critically, the detector analyzes the smoke sensor independently from the CO sensor, so it can decide to initiate a fire alarm, a life-safety CO alarm, or both. Edwards positions monitored CO detection of this kind for hotels, rooming houses, dormitories, day care facilities, schools, hospitals, assisted living facilities and nursing homes, where it is increasingly mandated.
The detector head is supplied on its own; a compatible mounting base is a separate catalog number.

Installation notes

Sensor replacement clock — and a panel-specific exception: the data sheet calls for replacing the detector every ten years from date of manufacture or at panel end-of-life indication, whichever comes first, but adds a footnote that EST3 and EST3X panels support 6-year life timing. Confirm which timing your panel enforces before quoting a replacement cycle.

End-of-life annunciation: at CO sensor end of life the detector signals COMMON TRBL ACT at the panel; pressing Details displays END OF LIFE ACT. This trouble stays active until the detector is replaced, even if the panel is reset.

Sounder bases differ from the smoke-only range: the compatible base list for this CO detector is SIGA-AB4GT and SIGA-AB4G-LF, both requiring a SIGA-TCDR tone generator for CO mode. The plain SIGA-AB4G is not listed for this detector.

Base is a separate order: SIGA-SB / SIGA-SB4 (standard), SIGA-RB / SIGA-RB4 (relay), SIGA-IB / SIGA-IB4 (fault isolator). The SIGA-TS4 trim skirt is supplied with the 4-inch bases.

Panel compatibility: compatible only with control panels using a Signature loop controller; up to 250 total Signature addresses per loop.

Applicable codes: install per NFPA 72, NFPA 720 (Standard for the Installation of Carbon Monoxide Detection and Warning Equipment) and UL 2075. Maintenance intervals follow NFPA 72, NFPA 720 and CAN/ULC-S536 as directed by the AHJ.

Boxes and wiring: mounts to North American 1-gang, 3-1/2 in. or 4 in. octagon and 4 in. square boxes 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) deep, and to European BESA and 1-gang boxes with 60.3 mm fixing centers. Bases accept #18 AWG (0.75 mm²) through #12 AWG (2.5 mm²); #16 and #18 AWG preferred.

Coverage limits: the detector does not sense fires where smoke cannot reach it — fires in walls, in roofs, or behind closed doors may not reach the chamber.
