SA5050-250APO — Apollo XP95A Smoke Detector, an addressable photoelectric light-scattering smoke detector using Purelight® sensing technology, approved to UL 268 7th Edition, ULC S529 and FM 3230.
The XP95A Smoke Detector is the North American, UL 268 7th Edition version of the XP95A detector, intended for existing addressable loops running the XP95 protocol. It connects to a two-wire loop circuit carrying both data and a 17–28V dc supply and is polarity insensitive, so loop wiring cannot be reversed into a fault. Addressing is by XPERT card, and the detector performs internal drift compensation with in-built self test; when internal drift limits are reached it generates a fault analogue value rather than silently losing sensitivity. A 360° LED indicator illuminates red in alarm, and a remote LED indicator may be connected across the +R and -R terminals. The base is secured with a grub screw locking mechanism.

Installation notes
-
XP95 protocol only: Apollo states as a caution that the XP95A Smoke Detector, Part No. SA5050-250, can only be used on existing systems operating with XP95 protocol. It is not a general-purpose detector for other Apollo protocols.
-
What it actually replaces: the datasheet states this detector is a direct replacement for the 55000-650 XP95A Smoke Detector. Confirm the outgoing part number before ordering a like-for-like swap.
-
XPERT base address caveat: the detector can operate on an approved XPERT intelligent mounting base, but the eighth bit of the address will be ignored. Plan loop addressing accordingly.
-
Drift compensation is visible at the panel: internal drift compensation appears at the fire panel as an increase in analogue value; when internal drift limits are reached a fault analogue value is generated.
-
Polarity insensitive: loop connection is via L1 and L2 in the mounting base; a ground connection terminal is also provided.
-
Cleaning: clean the detector externally with a soft damp cloth, with maintenance performed in accordance with all applicable standards.
-
Datasheet is not an installation document: Apollo marks this datasheet for marketing use only and directs installers to the product installation guide.
