VPS-100US-120 — VESDA power-limited power supply with housing, 120 VAC input, providing regulated 24 VDC operating power and battery backup for VESDA laser smoke detectors.
The VPS converts a 120 VAC / 60 Hz mains input into 24 VDC power-limited outputs and includes the battery charger that supervises and maintains the standby batteries. It is intended for applications requiring UL listing for fire protection signalling, and must be installed in accordance with the National Electric Code (NFPA 70) and local regulations. Supervision covers AC failure, low AC input (brown-out) and battery condition, and the unit switches over to standby battery automatically when AC fails. A common trouble relay reports AC input loss, low AC input voltage, loss of battery voltage, a short circuit of the battery leads, and a short circuit of any of the DC power outputs. The assembly is three parts — mounting enclosure, transformer and main circuit board — and takes two backup batteries, supplied separately.

Installation notes
-
The suffix is the mains voltage: VPS-100US-120 is the 120 VAC unit and VPS-100US-220 the 220 VAC unit. The data sheet treats input voltage as a field of the part number, so it is an ordering decision, not a site setting.
-
Budget per output, not per supply: total available current is 1.5 A. One output on its own may draw 1.2 A, but as soon as all three 24 VDC outputs are in use each is capped at 0.500 A. Size the detector load against the per-output figure.
-
Capacity depends on which detector: the same supply carries one LaserFOCUS-500 but two LaserFOCUS-250, and one LaserPLUS or LaserSCANNER. Count detectors by model, not by quantity.
-
Batteries are not included: two VBT-012 sealed lead acid 12 V / 12 Ah batteries are the stated minimum and are ordered separately.
-
Code compliance: installation must follow NFPA 70 and any local regulations; refer to the wiring diagrams in the data sheet for assembly.
-
Trouble relay is normally energized, so a complete loss of supply reports as a trouble at the panel, which is the intended fail-safe behaviour.
