6820EVS — intelligent addressable fire alarm control panel with an integrated Emergency Voice System in a single enclosure, expandable to 1,110 SK points.
The 6820EVS combines an intelligent addressable FACP with an Emergency Voice System and is a direct replacement for the 5820XL-EVS. When the EVS features are enabled they are integrated with the fire alarm and voice evacuation functions of the control panel. Emergency voice operation includes an onboard supervised microphone, and all-call and non-active call buttons quickly select all active or all non-active output groups. The system allows emergency messages to be given priority over fire, holds 15 recordable one-minute messages that can be mapped to eight EVS buttons, and is capable of producing 520 Hz tones to meet NFPA 72 requirements. Up to four LOC consoles and eight addressable amplifiers are supported.
On the fire side the panel has one built-in signaling line circuit supporting 159 SK detectors and 159 SK modules, or 127 SD protocol devices, with additional SLC loops added for a maximum of 1,110 (SK) or 635 (SD) points. Six onboard Flexput circuits serve as notification outputs or auxiliary power, alongside a form-C trouble relay and two programmable form-C relays. The built-in DACT is dual technology, IP and POTS, with optional cellular reporting. A common communications and annunciation link allows up to 17 panels to be connected via copper or fiber optic cable. The 6820EVS panels and accessories provide features to meet the requirements for Mass Notification Systems as described in UL 2572 2nd Edition and UL 864 10th Edition.

Installation notes
-
The 6 A Flexput cap is a total, not per circuit: each of the six Flexput circuits is rated 3 A maximum, but all circuits together cannot exceed 6 A. Budget notification load against the 6 A ceiling, not against six times 3 A.
-
Amplifier wattage is a separate budget: the panel supports eight addressable amplifiers totalling 1000 watts. Speaker circuit load is sized against that figure, independently of the Flexput NAC current.
-
Class A halves the NAC count: the same terminal block yields either six Class B NACs or three Class A NACs.
-
SK and SD devices cannot be mixed in the same fire alarm system, and the ceiling differs sharply — 1,110 SK points against 635 SD points.
-
Same point capacity as the 6820, larger cabinet: the EVS variant matches the 6820 on SLC capacity, Flexput ratings and battery limits, but the enclosure grows to 21.6" x 28.1" x 5.1" and 50 lbs to house the voice components. Confirm wall space and mounting before ordering as a swap.
-
Battery capacity is limited by the cabinet: the charger handles 7 to 35 AH, but the cabinet holds only two 18 AH batteries. Larger standby calculations need the RBB remote battery box.
-
Recommended ambient is narrower than the listed range: although the system meets NFPA requirements to 120°F, Honeywell recommends a normal room temperature of 15 to 27°C (60 to 80°F).
-
Message priority is programmable: the system can be configured to select EVS messages as priority over fire — confirm the intended sequence with the AHJ.
