SIGA-OSHDB — Edwards Signature Optica Series intelligent multisensor detector that combines multi-criteria optical (photoelectric) smoke sensing with an on-board rate-of-rise and fixed-temperature heat sensor, supplied in a black housing. It is a plug-in detector head that mounts to a separately ordered Signature Series base.
The optical sensor uses dual optical wavelengths across multiple detection angles, feeding particle data through digital filters and ratio analysis to reject signal patterns typical of nuisance sources such as general cooking particulates. The heat sensor adds a 15°F/min rate-of-rise function plus a 135°F fixed threshold, so the detector responds to both smouldering and fast-flaming fires. The detector is an addressable Signature device with electronic addressing, automatic device mapping, non-volatile memory and continuous self-diagnostics; it is compatible only with control panels using a Signature Loop controller. The black SIGA-OSHDB is the cosmetic counterpart of the white SIGA-OSHD and, per the ordering table, is intended for use with the SIGA-TSB black trim skirt when installed on a 4-inch base.

Installation notes
-
Black trim skirt: the ordering table specifies the SIGA-OSHDB for use with the SIGA-TSB, the black trim skirt for 4-inch bases — the standard SIGA-TS4 skirt supplied with 4-inch bases is not black.
-
Base ordered separately: the detector head requires a Signature Series base (SIGA-SB, SIGA-SB4, SIGA-RB, SIGA-RB4, SIGA-IB or SIGA-IB4), which is listed as a separate catalog number.
-
Panel compatibility: compatible only with control panels using a Signature Loop controller.
-
Wiring: bases accept #18 AWG (0.75 mm²) through #12 AWG (2.5 mm²); maximum resistance per wire must not exceed 10 ohms.
-
Remote LED: the SIGA-LED remote LED connects to the SIGA-SB or SIGA-SB4 standard base only — the relay and isolator bases do not support it.
-
Mounting boxes: North American 1-gang, 3-1/2 in. or 4 in. octagon, and 4 in. square boxes 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) deep; European BESA and 1-gang boxes with 60.3 mm fixing centers.
-
Sensitivity testing: NFPA sensitivity measurements must be conducted at the end of the first year and every two years thereafter; the device can report sensitivity data to the loop controller.
-
Power dependency: the detector does not operate without electrical power, and will not sense fires whose smoke or heat cannot reach it.
