Sounder Bases

A sounder base combines detector mounting and audible notification in one device: the detector head plugs into a base that also contains a sounder, and in sounder-beacon versions a visual indicator as well.

They are used where running a separate notification circuit is impractical or where local alarm at the point of detection is wanted — hotel and dormitory rooms, apartments, patient rooms. Because the base draws from the loop or from a dedicated supply, check the available current before populating a loop with them.

Bases are matched to a detector family and panel protocol; a head from one manufacturer will not seat in another's base.
