Rath Communications

Rath builds emergency communication equipment: area-of-refuge stations, elevator and stairwell phones, call boxes, ADA-compliant phones and the command centers that supervise them.

Area of refuge systems are a code requirement, not an option. Accessibility codes require a two-way communication station at designated refuge areas in multi-storey buildings, so that someone unable to use the stairs during an evacuation can reach responders and be located. Elevator phones are required separately, with their own supervision and answering requirements.

Systems are built from stations plus a supervising command center sized by zone count. Specify by the number of communication points, whether the stations are surface or flush mounted, and how the system reports — local answering point, central station, or both. Check the answering and monitoring requirements in your jurisdiction before selecting the head end.
