Mounting Plates

Mounting, adapter and back plates let a device install where the existing opening does not match. The common cases are retrofit — a new appliance on an older backbox — and cosmetic, covering the footprint left by a larger device that has been replaced.

Adapter plates are specific to both sides of the problem: the device being mounted and the box or opening it is mounting to. Order by that pair rather than by dimensions alone, since mounting-hole patterns differ between manufacturers even where the plate size is the same.
