Westell CS40-OPTRADIOMOD — optical radio module for the ProtectLink public safety fiber DAS.
Be clear on what this is. It is public safety two-way radio equipment for an ERRCS, the in-building system that keeps firefighter and police radios working. It is not a fire alarm device, and Westell states no UL 864 fire alarm listing for it. The module is a plug-in card converting RF to light, one per remote, seating in the CS40-OPTMASTER chassis, which holds eight and lets one BDA feed eight 2.5 W remotes over fiber.
- Optical connector SC/APC, single mode, one fiber per remote
- Optical link budget 8 dB, auto compensation for fiber loss
- Uplink 788–806 / 806–824 MHz, downlink 758–776 / 851–869 MHz
- System gain 90 dB downlink, 80 dB uplink; 2.5 W per band per remote
- Optical main unit powered at 24 VDC from the BDA
- ProtectLink fiber DAS platform listings: UL 2524 ERCES, UL 62368-1, UL 508A
Order the chain to match: CS40-OPTMASTER chassis, a CS40-734834-00D-A0 master BDA and CS40-734834-00D-AR or -BR remotes. One caution: the CS40 data sheet and line card print CS40-OPTRADIOMOD, while the Westell website prints CS40-OPTMRADIOMOD.
