VSP-962-20 — VESDA-E filter cartridge, pack of 20, for VESDA-E VEP, VES and VEU aspirating smoke detectors.
Every VESDA-E detector passes its sampled air through a replaceable filter before that air reaches the smoke detection chamber, and a further filtered feed forms the clean air barrier that keeps the chamber optics from contaminating. That multi-stage filtration is what lets a VESDA-E hold calibrated performance across its service life, which makes the cartridge a scheduled consumable rather than a repair part. VESDA-E detectors track it directly: a smart on-board filter retains the dust count and remaining filter life, and the detector display reports filter life used, so replacement can be planned instead of discovered. The 20-pack is the servicing quantity for estates with several detectors or a two-year replacement cycle across a site.

Installation notes

Power stays on: the product guide states it is not necessary to switch off the 24 VDC supply to change the filter. The detector shuts down the aspirator when it senses the filter has been removed and signals a fault — expect that fault, and clear it after refitting.

Removal: open the front door, make sure the area around the filter is free of lint and dust, press the release mechanism, tilt the filter toward the left-hand side of the detector on its base hinge pins, then lift it out of the case.

Refitting: confirm the new cartridge is free of lint and dust, seat the hinge pins in their recess, tilt the filter to the right, and press firmly until it makes a distinct click and no further movement is possible. A cartridge that has not clicked home is not sealed.

Not the VESDA legacy part: VSP-962 is the VESDA-E cartridge. Legacy VLC, VLF, VLP and VLS detectors take VSP-005 (or VSP-025 for a 20-pack), and the VESDA-E VEA takes VSP-972. None are interchangeable.
