SCWLED — System Sensor L-Series with LED strobe, ceiling mount, white, with FIRE marking on the cover. It replaces the xenon SCWL.
This is a strobe-only appliance: there is no horn and no tone or volume selection, only a field-selectable candela setting. LED lighting technology draws significantly less current than the older xenon bulbs across the full candela range, which improves design flexibility on notification appliance circuits and reduces power supply requirements, allowing longer circuits and smaller supplies. The plug-in design intrudes minimally into the back box, and the universal mounting plate carries an onboard shorting spring so installers can test wiring continuity before the device is installed. L-Series with LED appliances also provide DVM diagnostic test points discreetly located on the face of the appliance, so device voltage and end-of-line checks can be measured with a digital voltage meter without removing the appliance from the ceiling.

Installation notes
-
24 volts only: LED strobes and horn strobes are regulated 24 VDC with a 16 to 33 V operating range. The 8 to 17.5 V (12 V nominal) range published in this family applies only to the horn-only models — never to this strobe.
-
Ceiling candela values: as a ceiling appliance the selectable range is 15, 30, 75, 95, 115, 150 and 177 cd. The 110, 135 and 185 cd settings are wall-unit values and are not available here; the wall equivalent is the SWLED.
-
No horn and no tone switch: this model has a candela rotary switch only. Any tone pattern, volume setting or dBA rating belongs to the horn and horn strobe models, not to this appliance.
-
Synchronization is achieved with UL approved power supplies that support the System Sensor Sync protocol, or with a System Sensor MDL3 Sync Module.
-
Retrofit: electrically compatible with legacy SpectrAlert, SpectrAlert Advance and L-Series devices, so it can be swapped into an existing circuit — but recalculate the circuit, because the LED current draw differs substantially from the xenon SCWL it replaces.
-
Listed for wall or ceiling use, though the candela ratings above are the ceiling values.
-
Alternate markings and lens colours: bezel kits provide alternate print and language options, and LENS-A3, LENS-B3, LENS-G3 and LENS-R3 give amber, blue, green and red lenses. Amber lenses are not for use in Canadian applications.
