PC2RLED — System Sensor L-Series with LED 2-wire horn strobe, ceiling mount, red, with FIRE marking on the cover. It replaces the xenon PC2RL.
The PC2RLED combines an LED strobe with a selectable-tone horn in a single ceiling appliance. LED lighting technology draws significantly less current than the older xenon bulbs across the full candela range, which improves design flexibility for notification appliance circuits and reduces power supply requirements. Rotary switches set candela, tone and volume, so one part number covers a wide range of design cases. The plug-in design intrudes minimally into the back box, and the universal mounting plate carries an onboard shorting spring so wiring continuity can be checked before the appliance is installed. L-Series with LED appliances also provide DVM diagnostic test points on the face of the device, allowing voltage and end-of-line checks with a digital voltage meter without removing the appliance from the ceiling.

Installation notes

24 volts only: LED horn strobes are regulated 24 VDC with a 16 to 33 V operating range. The 8 to 17.5 V (12 V nominal) range published in this family belongs to the horn-only models — it does not apply to this horn strobe.

Ceiling candela values: the currents above are the ceiling ratings for 15, 30, 75, 95, 115, 150 and 177 cd. The wall settings (110, 135 and 185 cd) and their currents are different and belong to the wall model P2RLED. Never mix the two sets in a calculation.

Current varies sharply with switch position: at 150 cd the appliance draws 189 mA on Temporal 3 High but only 125 mA on 3.1 kHz Non-Temporal High. Size the NAC on the position actually programmed, not on a nominal figure.

Volume setting changes both output and load: High gives 87 dBA and Low 79 dBA on the standard tones. Confirm the Low setting still meets the required sound pressure level for the space before using it to save current.

Synchronization is achieved with UL approved power supplies that support the System Sensor Sync protocol, or with a System Sensor MDL3 Sync Module.

Retrofit: electrically compatible with legacy SpectrAlert, SpectrAlert Advance and L-Series devices, but recalculate the circuit — the LED current draw differs substantially from the xenon PC2RL this unit replaces.

This is a standard, not a compact, appliance. The compact L-Series LED horn strobes (P2GRLED, P2GWLED) are wall models only; there is no compact ceiling version.
