System Sensor 5603 is a 135°F fixed temperature, single-circuit mechanical heat detector from the 5600 series. It is a low-cost means of property protection against fire.
The 5600 series offers single- and dual-circuit models for low and high temperature ratings, with either fixed temperature or combination fixed temperature/rate-of-rise activation. The 5603 is a fixed temperature model, marked FX on the housing; combination units are marked FX/ROR. Clear markings show the activation method and the temperature rating in Fahrenheit and Celsius. When the detector activates, a collector drops from the unit, making the detector in alarm easy to identify.

Installation
- Mounts to 3 1/2 in and 4 in octagonal, and single-gang back boxes.
- A 4 in square back box also works with a square-to-round plaster ring.
- The reversible mounting bracket allows both flush and surface-mount installations.
Choosing the right 5600 series model
The 5603 is fixed temperature only, so it does not respond to rate of rise. For 50 ft x 50 ft protected spacing on a 10 ft ceiling, System Sensor's combination fixed/rate-of-rise 135°F single-circuit model is the 5601P. The 5604 is the 194°F fixed temperature equivalent of the 5603, and the 5623 is the dual-circuit 135°F fixed temperature model.
