Simplex 4090-9001 — a supervised Individual Addressable Module (IAM) that gives one location-specific address on an IDNet or MAPNET II circuit to conventional normally open dry contacts.
Individual addressable modules take both power and communications from the two-wire addressable circuit, so no separate supply is needed. The 4090-9001 monitors normally open dry contacts — a single initiating device such as single-station smoke detector alarm contacts or heat detector contacts, or several devices at the same location — along with the wiring out to an end-of-line resistor, giving supervised Class B monitoring reported as one point at the panel. Contact closure initiates an alarm or whatever response is programmed; an open in the monitored wiring reports a trouble. The panel decides how the point behaves: it can latch a momentary closure, as from a rate-of-rise heat detector, or track the contact status. On IDNet channels the module also supports current-limited "T-sense" operation, sensing four states — normal, open circuit, short circuit and current limited — so that a tamper switch (supervisory) and a waterflow switch (alarm) can be distinguished on the same circuit using a single address. The module is packaged in an enclosed thermoplastic housing that minimizes dust infiltration, with screw terminals and a communications LED, and it fits a standard single-gang box.

Installation notes

500 ft is a hard limit: total wiring distance from the IAM to the supervision resistor may not exceed 500 ft (152 m), and adding 2081-9044 overvoltage protectors for outdoor or electrically noisy runs cuts that to 400 ft (122 m).

T-sense is IDNet only: the quad-state current-limited mode that separates tamper from waterflow on one address requires IDNet communications and the correct end-of-line and current-limiting resistors. It is not available on MAPNET II.

Contact tracking is not universal: selecting the panel to track contact status rather than latch a momentary closure is not available with the 2120 CDT.

Seeing the LED after installation: the status LED is inside the box. Viewing it requires a trim plate with an LED window — 4090-9806 for a semi-flush box or 4090-9807 for a surface box — and both require the 4090-9810 mounting bracket, ordered separately. With a plain blank cover plate the LED is not visible.

Address setting is made under a resealable label on the module.

High-heat locations: rated to 158°F (70°C), which suits attic spaces and similar indoor applications, but it is an indoor device only.
