Siemens NIC-C — network interface card providing HNET or XNET plus CAN communication for FireFinder XLS enclosures.
The card plugs into any open slot of a CC-5 card cage on two 96-pin DIN connectors and carries network traffic between enclosures and between systems. One card provides either HNET or XNET, chosen on a switch, while the CAN interface is available either way and can run to a remote enclosure. Supervision is passive and uses no network bandwidth.
- One card per enclosure for HNET; for XNET, one per system, beside the PMI
- HNET address 001 to 251, set on a three-digit front-panel switch
- HNET or XNET wired Style 4 or Style 7; ground fault detection switch-selectable
- A short is isolated to the wire segment between two NIC-Cs
- 24 V backplane and 24 V standby current both 120 mA; 6.2 V backplane current 0
- Network wiring 24 to 12 AWG twisted pair, 80 Ω max. per pair, no end-of-line resistor
- Fifteen front-bezel LEDs, a reset switch and a monitoring jack
It supports the LCM-8, SCM-8, FCM-6, OCM-16 and SIM-16 CAN modules; a remote CAN enclosure needs an RNI, OCM-16 or SIM-16 of its own.
