NOTIFIER HS-NCM-W-2 — a High-Speed Network Communications Module with a twisted-pair wire interface, for connecting NOTIFIER panels and annunciators to High-Speed NOTI·FIRE·NET™.
The HS-NCM provides NOTIFIER’s N16, NFS-320, NFS-640, NFS2-640, NFS-3030 and NFS2-3030 Fire Alarm Control Panels, NCD, NCA and NCA-2 Network Control Displays and Annunciators, and DVC Digital Voice Command with a means to connect to High-Speed NOTI·FIRE·NET. Each HS-NCM can accommodate up to two node addresses — one module can, for example, provide network communication for both an N16 and an NCD.
Transformer coupling provides electrical isolation between nodes, and a pluggable service connector feeds the signal directly through in the event that power must be removed from a node, so pulling one panel does not break the network. When not connected to a fire alarm panel, the HS-NCM defaults to repeater mode and can be used to boost signal distances or to pass data transmissions between two differently configured network segments where wire and fiber co-exist.

Installation notes
-
Port-to-port wiring is polarity sensitive: when wiring consecutive HS-NCM-W-2 boards, wiring may enter or exit at Port A or Port B, but the use of Port A or Port B is not arbitrary. Get the polarity and port pairing right or the segment will not communicate.
-
Connect only to wire-capable modules: an HS-NCM-W-2 may be connected to another HS-NCM-W-2 in another panel, or to an HS-NCM-WMF-2 or HS-NCM-WSF-2. Reaching a fiber-only node requires one of the combination modules.
-
Not a drop-in for the older HS-NCM-W: the HS-NCM-W-2 is compatible with the obsolete HS-NCM-W, HS-NCM-WMF and HS-NCM-WSF, but a different configuration is required.
-
Ground fault detection is switch-selected: set SW4-1 ON for Channel A and SW4-2 for Channel B.
-
Mounting: installs in any standard chassis such as the CHS-4L, CHS-M2, CHS-M3, CHS-4N or CPU2-640 chassis. The HS-NCM-W-2 can additionally be door-mounted on the ADP-4B dress panel on a BMP-1 single-space blank plate in a CAB-4 Series cabinet, or on the DP-4A / DP-T2A dress panel on an ABP-1 blank plate in a CAB-5 Series cabinet.
-
Documentation: correct configuration depends on network design — refer to the High-Speed NFN Manual, P/N 54013, and the HS-NCM Manual, P/N 54014.
