Honeywell TC500A-N — a connected commercial touchscreen thermostat that controls and monitors rooftop units, heat pump equipment and their accessories over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BACnet IP, BACnet MS/TP and Sylk.
The TC500A-N is built for commercial buildings rather than homes: it drives 5H/3C heat pump or 3H/4C conventional equipment, fan coil units, and modulating heat and cool systems, with constant-speed, 3-speed, multispeed and variable-speed fan support and a packaged economizer enable output. Four universal terminals (two configurable as inputs or outputs, two input-only) plus a pair of Sylk terminals accept external sensors, while built-in temperature, humidity and proximity sensors handle the space itself. Configuration is done at the 4-inch touchscreen, through the Honeywell Connect Me mobile app, or over BACnet, and firmware is upgradable via Wi-Fi or the MS/TP network. The device carries a real-time clock with 72-hour retention through a power loss.

Installation notes

Transformer class matters: the 24 VAC supply must come from a UL listed Class 2 transformer (or an IEC 61558 listed transformer). Size it for the real load — 96 VA with every digital output energised, not the 8.5 VA the thermostat itself draws.

Setpoint limits are enforced in firmware: heat setpoints clamp between 40°F and 90°F and cool setpoints between 50°F and 99°F. If a sequence of operation calls for values outside that band, the thermostat is the wrong device.

RF exposure separation: to satisfy FCC and IC requirements, keep 20 cm or more between the thermostat antenna and persons during operation.

No region selection in North America: local regulation fixes the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi region on the North American version, so there is no region menu to set.

Not a safety control: Honeywell states the TC500A-N is for building HVAC control and is suitable only for non-safety controls installed on or in appliances. It is not fire alarm equipment and carries no UL 864 listing.

Do not open the housing: the datasheet warns there are no user-serviceable parts inside, and modifying the thermostat voids its conformance.
