ANN-80 — compact, backlit 80-character LCD serial annunciator in red that mimics the fire alarm control panel display over the ANN-Bus.
The ANN-80 displays English-language text of system point information including device type, zone, and independent point alarm, trouble or supervisory status, along with any custom alpha labels programmed into the control panel. It provides system status LEDs for AC Power, Alarm, Trouble, Supervisory and Alarm Silenced, plus control switches for System Acknowledge, Signal Silence, Drill and Reset. A keyswitch prevents unauthorized operation of the control switches and mechanically locks the annunciator enclosure; both the keyswitch and the individual control switches can be enabled or disabled at the FACP, and the enclosure is supervised for tamper. The ANN-80 and the FACP communicate over a two-wire serial interface using the ANN-Bus format, with two additional wires carrying power from either the host FACP or a remote UL-listed filtered power supply. No programming is required, which saves time during system commissioning. This is the red model; order ANN-80-W for white.

Installation notes

Eight per bus, not per system: a maximum of eight devices can be connected to one FACP ANN-Bus communication circuit. Panels offering two ANN-Bus circuits reach a higher total, but any single bus still stops at eight.

Power budget: the ANN-Bus can be powered by an auxiliary power supply when the number of ANN-Bus devices exceeds the ANN-Bus power capability. Remember the annunciator load shares the panel’s 24 VDC budget with the notification circuits.

Wire sizing is drop-limited: 14 to 18 AWG is acceptable for the 24 VDC power circuit, but the real limit is a 1.2 volt maximum line drop from source to end of circuit — calculate the total worst case current draw for all modules on the 4-conductor bus before fixing the wire gauge.

Angled viewing: use the ANN-SB80KIT surface mount backbox with angled wedge where the annunciator sits above or below eye level.

Backlight behavior: the backlight turns off during AC loss to conserve battery power, and turns back on if an alarm condition occurs. This is normal, not a fault.
