Edwards SIGA-PD — the Signature Series intelligent optical (photoelectric) smoke detector, now replaced by the Signature Optica SIGA-OSD.
The SIGA-PD gathers analog information from its optical sensor and converts it into digital signals. Its on-board microprocessor measures and analyzes those sensor readings and compares them against historical data to make the alarm decision, with digital filters removing signal patterns that are not typical of fires. This is the single-sensor generation of the platform: where the SIGA-OSD that supersedes it uses dual optical wavelengths across multiple detection angles, the SIGA-PD works from one optical sensing chamber and historical comparison. It retains the Signature Series behaviors — electronic addressing, automatic device mapping, two levels of environmental compensation, two levels of dirty detector warning, twenty pre-alarm settings, five sensitivity settings and automatic day/night sensitivity adjustment.
The detector head ships on its own; the mounting base is a separate catalog number.

Installation notes

Superseded — check the listing edition before a like-for-like swap: this data sheet lists the SIGA-PD to UL 268 and UL 268A. The replacement SIGA-OSD is listed to UL 268 7th edition. Where a project or AHJ requires the 7th edition, the SIGA-PD does not satisfy it and the SIGA-OSD is the correct part.

FM is listed here but not on the replacement’s sheet: the SIGA-PD data sheet states “FM approved.” The SIGA-OSD data sheet’s agency listing row reads CAN/ULC-S529, UL 268-7, UL 268A and CSFM, with no FM entry. If an FM approval is a contract requirement, confirm the current status of the replacement part with Edwards rather than assuming it carries across.

Sensitivity range differs from the replacement: the SIGA-PD covers 0.53 to 3.94 %/ft; the SIGA-OSD covers 0.5 to 4.36 %/ft. A drawing that specifies a sensitivity setting at the edge of one range may not be reproducible on the other.

Base is a separate order: choose SIGA-SB / SIGA-SB4 (standard), SIGA-RB / SIGA-RB4 (relay), SIGA-IB / SIGA-IB4 (fault isolator), or SIGA-AB4G, SIGA-AB4GT, SIGA-AB4G-LF (audible). Bases are shared with the SIGA-OSD, so a base already installed can normally stay.

Trim skirt: the SIGA-TS4 is supplied with the 4-inch bases; SIGA-TS is the separate-order skirt for the non-4-inch bases.

Remote LED restriction: the SIGA-LED remote alarm LED is not for EN54 applications.
