Edwards SIGA-CR — a Signature Series intelligent analog-addressable control relay module providing one Form “C” dry relay contact to control external appliances such as door closers, fans and dampers.
On command from the Signature loop controller the SIGA-CR activates its normally-open or normally-closed contact. Note what the module does and does not do: it does not supervise the state of the relay contact itself; instead the on-board microprocessor ensures the relay is in the proper ON/OFF state. Because all decisions are made at the module, communication speed on the loop stays low while control panel response time improves, and the loop is less sensitive to line noise and wiring properties — twisted or shielded wire is not required.
The SIGA-CR is the standard-mount version, installing to a North American 1-gang electrical box, which suits remote locations where only one module is needed. Separate I/O and data loop connections are made to the module.

Installation notes
-
The contact is not supervised: the data sheet states plainly that this device does not provide supervision of the state of the relay contact. If your sequence of operation requires proof the controlled appliance actually changed state, that has to come from a separate monitored input.
-
Check whether your load is pilot duty — the sheet is not consistent: the Application section gives the SIGA-CR contact rating as 2.0 A at 24 VDC with no qualifier, and reserves the “pilot duty” wording for the SIGA-CRR polarity reversal module. The specification table, however, applies “2 Amps @ 24 Vdc (pilot duty)” across all four catalog numbers including the SIGA-CR. Pilot duty is a materially different rating from a general-purpose one; confirm with Edwards before applying the full 2 A to an inductive or motor load.
-
Not rated for capacitive loads. This is stated in the specification table.
-
No configuration to do: personality code 8 is assigned at the factory. Unlike the input modules, there is no code to choose.
-
Addressing: electronic, with no switches or dials. The loop controller assigns a soft address to each module’s unique serial number, or the SIGA-PRO Signature Program/Service Tool can be used.
-
Power dependency: the module will not operate without electrical power.
-
Maintenance: automatic self-diagnosis raises a trouble message when the module is defective, and single modules can be temporarily deactivated from the control panel. Plan scheduled maintenance to the AHJ’s requirements per current NFPA 72 and CAN/ULC-S536.
-
Two modules in one box: the SIGA-MB4 bracket allows mounting two 1-gang modules in a 2-gang box.
