BRK SMCO500V — battery-powered combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm with voice location announcement and wireless interconnect, catalogue 1046815.
A single-station household alarm listed to UL 217 and UL 2034, not a UL 268 system detector. A photoelectric chamber watches for smoke and a separate electrochemical cell for carbon monoxide, and a spoken message names both the hazard and the room. Units link by radio, each repeating what it hears, so the group forms a mesh.
- Two replaceable AA batteries, 3 V — this is not a sealed ten-year alarm
- Radio range about 100 ft (30 m) indoors; up to 18 units linked, at most 12 of them smoke alarms
- Alarms at 70 ppm in 60–240 min, 150 ppm in 10–50 min, 400 ppm in 4–15 min; silent below 30 ppm
- Horn 85 dB at 10 ft; end-of-life signal near ten years, silenceable two days
- 5.02 in. diameter × 2.11 in. high; 40–100 °F
BRK names only the smoke-only SM500V as wirelessly compatible, so this does not pair with the wider First Alert range. Do not confuse it with the mains-powered SMCO110V-AC. BRK also states this alarm does not meet a HUD MAP sealed ten-year battery requirement and points to the SA340B.
