BRK RM4 — 120 V AC accessory relay module that operates an auxiliary device whenever an interconnected First Alert or BRK smoke, heat or CO alarm sounds.
Residential alarms carry no dry contacts, so nothing on them can drive a bell, strobe, door closer or exhaust fan. The RM4 wires into the interconnect line and supplies that contact set. The alarms provide the signal only and no power, so the relay and its load each need their own supply.
- 120 V AC, 60 Hz, 0.02 A in standby and in alarm
- One changeover contact set: brown common, gray normally closed, blue normally open
- Rated 15 A resistive at 120 V AC or at 30 V DC, and 1/3 hp motor load at 120 V AC
- Up to 18 compatible alarms, no more than 12 of them smoke, plus up to 6 RM4 relays
- May be wired remotely through up to 1,000 ft (300 m) of 18 AWG or larger wire rated 300 V
- 40 to 100 °F and 10 to 90 percent RH, in a covered junction box
- Meets UL 217, UL 2034, UL 539, ULC S-531, ULC S-530 and CSA 6.19 for accessories
Compatibility is listed model by model: the 9120B and 7010B smoke alarms, the SC7010B smoke and CO alarms, and one heat alarm, the HD6135FB. Resideo states the RM4 must not tie groups of alarms to a fire alarm control panel.
