VSP-964-03 — VESDA-E Smoke Detection Chamber, MK3 revision, supplied as a field-replaceable spare.
The detection chamber is the optical core of a VESDA-E detector. Air drawn from the sampling pipe network passes an airflow sensor, then the replaceable filter, and reaches the chamber through the sampling module; a further filtered clean-air feed shields the optical surfaces inside the chamber from contamination. The chamber uses a short wavelength laser light source together with photodiodes and advanced imaging technology to achieve response across a wide range of smoke types. Xtralis builds the VESDA-E internal components as field-replaceable sub-assemblies, so a degraded chamber is exchanged on site rather than by returning the detector.

Installation notes

The revision is part of the number: VSP-964-03 is the MK3 chamber. The later VESDA-E VEP-A00-UL Product Guide (September 2023) lists VSP-964-04, the MK4 chamber, as its spare. Check which revision your detector's current documentation calls for before ordering.

Removal sequence: switch off the 24 VDC supply, open the front door and remove the front fascia, remove the filter, remove the sampling module, then undo the four screws holding the chamber to the detector base. Reinstall in the reverse order.

ESD: the product guide requires electrostatic precautions throughout to prevent damage to the detector.

A chamber swap is not a filter swap: the replaceable air filter is a separate part (VSP-962). Fitting a new chamber does not renew the filtration that protects it.
