Vesda VSP-850-R — Xtralis In-Line Filter in red, a pre-filter that drops into an aspirating smoke detector sampling pipe run.
It exists for dirty air. Two foam elements sit at an angle inside the housing, coarse above and finer below, so smoke particulate passes to the detector while dust is trapped or settles. Xtralis claims longer detector life and longer service intervals, not better detection.
- Tapered ports take 25 mm to 26.5 mm outside diameter pipe, so metric 25 mm and imperial 1 in. pipe fit with no adaptor.
- Elements change by lifting the lid, with the filter still in the pipe.
- Replace the foams at least every 12, 6 or 3 months by background level.
- Mounts vertical or horizontal; cover arrows give airflow direction, and reverse flow is not allowed.
- Every dirty pipe needs its own filter, and filters never sit in series.
- 206 mm long, 59 mm by 33 mm across; four fit side by side.
Xtralis warns that airflow across the filter is not a reading of filter loading. VSP-850-G is the same filter in grey; VSP-855-4 and VSP-855-20 are replacement foam elements, four and twenty sets, not filters.
